It’s time for the Re-Organization Part II.

It will be Thursday, January 28 at 7 pm. In this meeting the focus is on electing the balance of the Executive (E) Board and revising the policy on reimbursement.

If you are interested in running for a position on the E Board in the 23rd Legislative District (LD), please read the information that follows. The process and structure that will be followed is the same as the one in December. This will require people to self-nominate in advance of the meeting. Each candidate can submit a written statement to the Chair and Secretary of the district no later than five (5) days before the virtual election – by January 23. The Secretary shall transmit any such submitted statements to all members in good standing no later than two (2) days prior to any virtual election being held. The statement shall be no more than 250 words. Each candidate will be allowed to give a live speech prior to the vote for each position or provide a video in lieu of the live speech. The speech shall be no longer than two (2) minutes.

The additional E-Board positions are one person from each school district (Bainbridge, Bremerton, Central Kitsap, North Kitsap) plus four additional members. We still need to maintain gender balance so no gender can be more than one-half of those elected. Any member may run for the E-Board. The term of office is two years and the meetings currently are the second Wednesday of the month, 6:30-8:00 pm and they are monthly. Those who have expressed interest in running have statements linked here:  https://www.kitsap23rd.com/page-18096

The focus of the E-Board is described in the Article II, the Mission Statement. The function of the E-Board is described in Article VII, Section 2. The E-Board makes recommendations to the LD on endorsements/approvals of candidates, resolutions, policies, bylaws and other similar items. They also decide on the amount of contributions given to candidates, campaigns and other political groups.

The other piece that needs to be addressed are the proposed changes to the       reimbursement policy. Anyone wishing to speak in favor or against the proposed policy will need to notify the chair no later than five (5) prior to the meeting – January 23. There will be no more than two (2) pro or two (2) con statements with regards to the policy changes. And the statements are about the changes in total, not per change. Proposed Policy Changes 2021.docx
