PCO and Party Activist Training and Crab Feed
Sunday, February 10, 2008
Thank you.
The 23rd LD democrats, and democratic organizations across the county and state, have a lot of people to thank today, the day after record-breaking turnout for our caucuses. Thanks to the volunteers who did their best under challenging circumstances to carry off these events. Thanks to the impromptu volunteers at every location, who came forward with no notice to help the coordinators deal with the phenomenally high turnout. Thanks to the facilities who hosted our events, some of whom went above and beyond with problem-solving and logistical help to do everything from unlocking the doors to turning the lights on -- which in some places took hours and tens of phone calls by impromptu volunteers.
Most of all, thanks to the thousands of voters who turned out yesterday to participate in the democratic process at its grassroots finest. We appreciate your energy, your patience, and your willingness to participate in the process. We also appreciate your support. The caucuses are an expensive process for the party, and your generosity yesterday will help cover both the cost of the caucuses and help support democratic candidates.
To those of you for whom this was your first contact with the party, we encourage you to get involved and stay involved. Please bookmark this website and come visit us here again, as updated events and information will be going up as soon as we recover from the caucus clean-up. Please also consider joining the 23rd LD organization. Dues are just $24 a year. Please also RSVP to join us at the upcoming Jefferson Jackson Dinner on February 23rd.
Regardless of which candidate you supported in yesterday's caucus, it is going to take each and every one of us, working together, to elect Democrats to offices at all levels this fall. Thank you for your participation in yesterday's caucus, and for your participation in the months and years to come.
Jefferson Jackson Dinner and Convention Correction
I hope to be able to post a caucus wrap up a little later in the day, but in the meantime, here's an update on some of the upcoming events in the 23rd LD:
Jefferson Jackson Dinner, February 23rd
The Jefferson-Jackson Dinner and Auction is our principal fund-raiser for Democratic Party candidates. It cannot be stressed enough how important this event is for supporting our elected officials and candidates.
Encourage your Democratic friends and neighbors to come and enjoy a wonderful dinner with good friends. It’s an enjoyable way to support Democratic candidates and meet your legislators and public officials. The dinner is always well attended by leading Democrats at all levels.
The Olympic College culinary arts students serve an Outstanding dinner. You’ll also have a chance to bid on fabulous items (cash, checks only; a cash machine is on site). Donations of auction items are most welcome.
Please make reservations by February 13th. Call Marilyn Boynton for more information at 360-297-2776 or email her at mimib@donobi.net. To donate auction items, call Laurie Jackley, 360-710-7705; bjackley@sinclair.net.
Corrected Dates for upcoming convention
The Kitsap County and 23rd Legislative District Convention will take place on April 12, 2008 beginning at 9 a.m. at Olympic High School. Some of the materials at yesterday's caucus had the incorrect date and time, so please be sure to correct this on your calendar.
Thank you,
